"Bad Deal"

I just got done test reading some Easter stories to Gavin. The one tells how Jesus died on the cross. I explained that because Jesus loves us so much he died to forgive our sins. Gavin's response "Well, that's a bad deal. It's not good to be dead." I said it was a bad deal for Jesus and a very good deal for us. Very sweet to see how even a 4 year old can see that Jesus' deal was (in 4 year old terms) "no fair".

I have not abandoned the blog...

Oh my, I know its been too long since the latest update. I haven't abandoned this blog, but apparently my sister's wedding and Pinterest have taken over all my spare time. Referencing back to my pictures, let's see what's been happening at the Middendorf house...

Wyatt got stitches back in January. He bonked his head on a corner, just kind of tipped over into it as Fred and Gavin were trying to get a plastic coin out of his mouth. So now all the boys have had their first set of stitches. And I've gotten to witness 2 of my boys being restrained, screaming, and stitched. Oof-da.

February was reading month at Jacob's school, so he read through a couple of Diary of a Wimpy kid books. One morning I came down to see Jacob reading to his little brother, who himself had found a Victoria's Secret catalog to browse through.

We've been enjoying this warm winter. We got to get out for walks and the boys made me trek across the snow covered trail to get to the park. I do not have an all-terrain stroller, so that was a good workout.

Gavin has been his usual video gaming self. Jacob is our outdoor boy and it seems Wyatt may be too, but Gav will prefer a screen of anytype anyday. Lately with the warm weather he has been out swinging and popping bubbles, but he still gets in more than his share of gaming.

Fred and I have gotten out a few times to listen to a friends band and to a diabetes fundraiser where we got to dress up as rockers. Fred was Metallica's lead man and I was Madonna.

I have slipped on documenting Wyatt's milestones, such as his first haircut, which I think he got sometime in February. I found a picture from before and one from after. I did get the envelope of hair, if that counts for anything.

Jacob has been a do-gooder this winter. He walked for the JDRF (diabetes) walk with our friends whose son was just diagnosed this December. Gavin walked with us too and we left the Mall of America (where the walk took place) with crazy haired kids. Jacob also did the Jump Rope for Hearts fundraiser for the American Heart Association, which they did for school. He did a lot of jumping practice and impressed me with his ability to jump rope backwards.

Gav has had a hard time sharing his friend Avery. She's made some girlfriends and he's not so happy about that. He had a hard time at her birthday party, with 13 other kids wanting to play with Avery and if he stays for lunch at school he always asks if Avery's friend Macy will be there, because he doesn't want to share. Kind of cute, kind of frustrating. Avery did have her 4th birthday in February and Gavin dressed up to be her prince, aren't they cute?
