Mother's Day and the Birthday Extravaganza

For Mother's Day we visited my Grandma in Springfield. The boys were great in the car and enjoyed some time with their Great Grandma Lyd.

Wyatt and Grandma Lyd coordinated outfits, so cute.

Me and my boys with my Mother's Day loot. I also got an electric tiller and better yet Fred tilled the whole flower bed on our retaining wall.

Yummy! Ice cream cake.

Jacob turned 6 on May 13th. It was a Friday, just like the Friday the 13th he was born on. Jacob awoke to presents from his brothers (Sorry Sliders) and Fred and I (a DSI game system). I made him special banana chocolate chip pancakes, which he spit out. Sigh. He had club care and school, so he got to wear a crown in class and share treats.

After school and a quick stop at Target to buy DS games with his birthday money, we headed to the Mall of America, leaving Wyatt at home with Grandma Nancy. We ate at the Rainforest cafe, at a table right by a fish tank where Gavin couldn't see the scary monkeys, but he still didn't like the thunderstorms. We probably won't be going there for Gavin's birthday, but since it was Jacob's, he got to choose. After supper we braved the rides at Nickelodeon Universe. Jacob is tall enough to ride them all now. So Fred and I tag teamed, taking turns with Jacob and Gavin. Gavin is still a little short for some rides, so we get to ride with him as his chaperone for free. Fred and I could feel our ages as rode the wilder rides with Jacob. Oye.

Spongebob was meeting and greeting.

On Saturday, Jacob had soccer in the cold and rain and then we had a family birthday party at our house.

Jacob chose a skateboard cake for this party.

Grandpa and Grandma Jeske gave him a new bike for a 3rd year in a row, he just keeps growing.

On Sunday we continued and concluded the extravaganza with a friend birthday party at Brunswick Bowl in Eden Prairie. It was cosmic bowling (in dim lighting), so the pictures are not so great. The kids all enjoyed bowling, doing the cha-cha slide, eating pizza and cake, and playing video games.
