Sunday, the 4th, after church we headed to Ward Springs for the parade. I guess there was talk of cops being around to crack down there, so the parade was very short and kind of disappointing. It was hot though, so not such a bad thing to have a short parade at high noon. We headed straight to the lake after the parade. My parents got a pontoon this year, so we put a few decorations (flags and blue and white webbing) on the pontoon and joined in the boat parade. The kids were with us and thought it was a bit too long, Gavin took a nap. I think next year we'll leave the kids with the grandparents and we'll have margaritas during the parade. Fred had off on the 5th, so we enjoyed another day at the lake and then headed back to Chaska.

Enjoying the lake. Jacob gives Gavin a tow on the air mattress.Jacob completed swim lessons last week. His only skill he missed was the backstroke. He can float and kick on his back, but getting the arms going is proving to be a little challenge. So, he didn't get to pass out of his level, but he did learn some good techniques during the class. He really is a good swimmer for as few lessons as he's had. Gavin thinks he's a good swimmer too and sometimes asks not to be caught when jumping in the pool or asks for me to let go of him when we are in water over his head. I oblige as he doesn't mind going under and then rescue him once he's gone under, sometimes he does manage to paddle enough to momentary keep his head up.

After each of Jacob's swim lessons, we went to the splash pad right outside from the pool at the community center. Gavin loves it there.
Gavin at the splashpad.Not that I didn't get enough water time last week, but the boys can't get enough, so we went to Richfield's outdoor pool on Friday. They had a fun kid's pool area. Jacob was up and down the slides all day and Gavin spent half the day underwater in his goggles working on his swimming in the 1.5' of water. There was a big slide that Jacob could have went down. He walked to the top and decided he didn't want to do it. He's been down big slides, but not by himself and he wasn't ready.

Fred was very productive cleaning out the unfinished room in the basement and getting some shelving up and doing some other odds and ends. I am slowly getting stuff moved out of our overstuffed closets in our bedrooms and down to the shelving in the basement. Ah...
Fred did find time on Saturday evening to come with us to a nearby beach. We all had a great time in the water. Then on Sunday night we went to the Minnesota Zoo. Thrivent Financial had a great deal where we all got to get in for $10 total. We had to duck a few rain showers, but we got to see lots of animals. Most amazing to us were the bears, see pictures.

What kind of bird are you?Last week I started the bio-physical ultrasounds that I did when I was pregnant with Gavin, just to make sure what happened to Jacob wasn't happening again. Everything looks good thus far. at 27.5 weeks they estimated this baby boy to weigh 2 lbs 9 oz. Jacob was born at 29 weeks and weighed 2 lbs 14 oz, so that seemed pretty big to me, but it was just slightly above average. He's hanging out with his down already, so his feet/knees are in my ribs already. I think Gavin laid breech for most of the time and that was more comfortable for me. We still haven't done anything to get ready for baby, except that I bought a new carseat since they say once a carseat is 5 years old you should get rid of it. Hopefully by the end of September we'll get a name picked out and a room ready for him. Jacob and Gavin will be moving into Gavin's room to make room for baby, but we are delaying that as long as possible.
Gavin is under the weather this week. He had a fever yesterday and is still not himself today. He slept great though last night, which I appreciated. Jacob is doing Taste of Kindergarten this week and next, he gets to go to class in one of the kindergarten rooms and hopefully refresh all he's learned in preschool so he'll be ready for kindergarten come September.
