A Week of Celebration Completed

Ok, so now I know what not to do next year for Jacob's birthday. We did have a good week, but I think it was a bit much, at least for me. Jacob is currently at the Waterpark of America with Fred, Corey and the twins capping off his birthday week.

We had a fun family birthday party yesterday with Maddie, Logan and Riley here to play with Jacob and try out all the new toys and other presents. Also in attendance were Auntie Drea, Grandma and Grandpa Jeske, Grandma Mary Ann, Chad and Corey.

Last night Adrea babysat for us and Fred and I got to go play cards with our church group. It is always a good time with that group and we are home about 10:30, perfect for us old folks and the babysitter.

Fred had off of school last week, but starts summer session this Wednesday. This summer he has class on Monday and Wednesdays. Adrea will continue to come get Jacob and take him to gymnastics, now on Monday nights. That helps a lot with the long days. And hopefully Gavin will start sleeping through the night soon, long days wouldn't be so long if I were well rested. He has done a couple nights recently with just getting up once, so hopefully he continues to sleep longer.

No big plans for Memorial Day weekend here. We hope to have nice weather to be up in Melrose and get stuff ready for summer at the cabin. We hope you all enjoy the long weekend too!

"I'm Pooped"

After Jacob's party on Thursday, I said to him "I'm pooped". In a very sympathetic voice he says "ah, in your pants?" and gives me a hug.

Jacob is 3!

Jacob turned 3 yesterday. Wow. He was so excited for his birthday, he's been asking me everyday for over a month if it was his birthday. Yesterday when he came into Gavin's room in the morning as I was feeding Gavin the look on his face was like "I know its my birthday. Ta-da!" So cute. I had him wake Fred up and then we went downstairs to open one present, then we had to set-up the race track and play cars for while. Then we had MOPS. Then Mom, Dad, and Mary Ann came down to take us all out for lunch - Jacob is not a big eater, but he appears to have high end tastes, so we got to go to The Rain here in Chaska. He got a grilled cheese that he ate with his Tomato Basil Coconut soup and then got Creme Brulee for dessert. After his nap he got to go to gymnastics. Then he got to open the rest of his presents and have chocolate cupcakes and ice cream. I think it was a pretty fantastic birthday, all except the naptime battle.

Tomorrow Jacob's playgroup friends are coming over to celebrate with him and then on Saturday we'll do the family birthday party.

Both boys had check-ups last week. Gavin weighed in at 18 plus pounds and measured 25.5 inches. Jacob was 33.5 pounds and 37.5 inches. Dr Bob asked Jacob if he wanted to be a Dr when he grew up and Jacob said "yes and then you can be a Jacob Middendorf". Hmm.

Watchout Ladies - Jacob is looking to get married

Jacob says some pretty amusing things these days and I am going to try to post them as a way to remember them, since I have no memory due to lack of sleep:)

After church at St Mary's on Sunday morning, Amy Tschida stopped to chat with Gene, Mary Ann, Fred, Jacob and myself. When she walked away Jacob said to Grandma Mary Ann "When I meet a girl like that I am going to get married. Then we are going to dance up [in the front of the church]."

Stay tuned, as I am sure another interesting tidbit will come out at any time.
