Gavin Gene Middendorf

Gavin Gene Middendorf arrived via c-section on January 8, 2008 at 8:01 or 8:04 am (we are still reviewing the tapes - or the nurse is reveiwing charts, something). He weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz and 20.5 inches longs. He has blond hair and dark eyes - I can't say if they are brown or blue yet. He has been eating, sleeping and pooping since his arrival. I am sure he will change his ways once we get home.

Big brother Jacob is having fun hanging out with grandparents this week and has been very good with baby brother so far. It is a little hard for him to leave his mom at the hospital, but he is being a trooper.

I am recovering well from the c-section. I had a c-section with Jacob, so just decided to do a repeat with Gavin. It was a whole new experience though as I was awake for this one and not with Jacob. It made for a sleepless night on Monday and an exhausting day yesterday, but after a night of good rest inbetween breastfeedings I am feeling much better. Fred is doing well too.

Christmas & New Years

We had a fun Christmas. We were able to go back to Melrose for the weekend and Christmas Eve and then we came back to Chaska on Christmas Day. After the hectic Christmas Eve Day, it was nice to lay back and relax at our house on Christmas Day. Jacob got fun new toys including tractors, trucks and a train track. On Christmas Day we did bake a birthday cake for Jesus and sang him happy birthday. Jacob enjoyed the singing, blowing the candle out and mostly eating the birthday cake for days.

New Year's was pretty low key. Nate and Diana Blommel came over with their kids and the kids had a great time playing together and the adults enjoyed snacks and watched Fred & Nate play some Guitar Hero. The party fizzed about 9:30, but Fred and I managed to stay awake until 2008 was here.

Fred has Guitar Hero on XBox 360 and got a second guitar for Christmas, so now Jacob is always asking to play the guitar game. Before we had the second guitar, Jacob would play his play guitar and I got to play drums - now I get to play the play guitar while Jacob and Fred play the guitar game. I have actually attempted to play the game now, but can only do easy while Fred plays the hard version of the songs.

We are less than a week away from having baby number 2. I am excited and nervous. The c-section will be a new experience for me since I was completely out the last time, so that is scary for me, but I hope its not as bad as I have pictured in my head. I'll post again once we get home and settled.

Happy New Year!
