September Fun

We had a fun September. We started off the month with Labor Day weekend in Melrose. We thought Saturday was suppose to be the cool day, so my mom, Drea and I took our kids and the Rosenbergers to Little Falls Zoo. Our favorites, the prairie dogs, were down to just two dogs, there had been about 20 last year, so that was disappointing, but it was a beautiful day to wander around and see what the animals were up to.

Isaac feeding a donkey.

Whose afraid of a stuffed wolf?

After the zoo, we went to Albany to do some mini-golfing. I think the was Adrea's idea, giving the 4 kids golf clubs and balls to hit. Luckily we were the only ones on the course, so we spread out and nobody got hurt. Sunday was windier and cooler than Saturday, so we didn't do much that day until the Middendorf family fantasy football draft that evening.

The next weekend we made another trip to Melrose. Fred went to Richmond to help shingle at his nephew's house on Saturday. While he was there Alyssa took Jacob with Isaac to kickball in Melrose and then after naps we took Jacob, Gavin and Isaac (Maddie was at a birthday party) to the Hempker Zoo outside of Freeport. I had never been, so it was fun to see it. The animals seemed really friendly, especially the one humped camels, they came up to the boys by the fence. We also got to pet a penguin, which was a cool experience too.

The boys got a wagon ride.

That evening my mom, Alyssa, Maddie, Eva Becker, and I got to go to Footloose at the Paramount in St Cloud. It was a fun show and it was fun to see one of our friends as a performer. Maddie was a little surprised by the language used and did not quite approve of the show.

Sunday, the 12th, we had one final nice day at the lake. The boys attempted some fishing, but had not luck. We got the cabin cleaned out and ready to be winterized until spring.

We've had two fun weekends in the cities too. Last weekend Fred's parents came down and we went to the casino with them on Friday night while the boys stayed home with a babysitter. Both Fred and Mary Ann had some luck at the casino, so that was good. Then on Saturday night we had our first church card club of the year, hopefully not our last - we hope to be able to still make it out of the house once we have 3 kids. Gene and Mary Ann babysat for us that night, so we got out of bedtime two nights in a row!

This, our final weekend as the parents of 2 boys, we had a 40th birthday party on Friday night. Tried to get some things done around the house on Saturday and went to Angelfest, a local church's carnival. I got to play bingo and one once, so it was a good day. Then Fred went to the casino with a friend and lost back some of his winnings. Today we got to go to the Vikings game. I have 2 days left to get ready for baby. I am ready to be done being pregnant, but am unsure about my ability to manage 3 boys. Prayers are welcome...
